Yes, the council are threatening a ban on skateboarding in the city centre. Yes, we should helpfully remind them that skateboarding is an Olympic Sport and a big part of youth culture (something they likely rely upon to get that coveted “city of culture” title they keep banging on about). And yes, after Cov skateboarders have nagged them for 8 years about needing a new Skatepark and listing all the ways the old skateparks are not fit for purpose, this is the council’s solution to people skating street spots. And, as usual, the telegraph using the word “skateboarding” as clickbait. Nothing fucking new here.
