It’s awards season. Sports Personality of the Year. Video Game Awards. Thrasher Skater Of The Year. Awards being handed out everywhere. Off the back of that. I thought, why not have some awards of our own?
The “Ty Evans” award for Best filmer/editor – A category for the best new filmer/editor in the Cov skate scene.
Winner – Tony Lui
There were people who doubted Tony’s ability to make use of Tom Illsley’s old video camera. Those people were firmly shut up once his first throwaway edit dropped. For a first time edit, it was real good – whatever Tony’s working on for a full video, I’m sure it’s gonna be awesome.
Honourable mentions: Lewis Guest & Zac Parkinson
Most missed Cov local – A local ripper who was sorely missed by everyone.
Winner – Swampy

There were plenty of other people who have left our scene recently, but I felt like when Swampy left Cov to live in Bristol, a huge part of Cov’s scene fell apart – a few people made the trip down to Joxa’s to see ol’ Swamp, showing how much this scene needs a master of all trades like Mr Moore. He’s back in our neck of the woods now – and once again building DIY ramps. Welcome back!
Honourable mentions: Martins Neimanis, Ryan Bradley
Skater of the year – The skater who just outright killed it this year.
Winner – Lucas Healey

This was a tough one. But during work on Cannonball Holocaust it became clear to me. Lucas was originally meant to have first section in the video – at the time everyone else just seemed to be getting better footage so it made sense to me to give him first section. Little did I know how much this kid would progress in the space of a year. Not only did he manage to one up everyone else in the video, I’m pretty sure he’s one upped everyone I’ve ever made sections for. He’s the youngest person to ever get last section in a Terribleco video, and I’m sure he’s the youngest person to ever 5050 the subway 6 handrail (actually he might be the only person to ever do that… that rail is fucking horrid).
Honourable mentions:
Tony Lui – not content with being a great filmer and editor, Tony also put out an amazing section in Cannonball Holocaust, and won best trick at the Summer Jam.
Kyle Smith – Kyle banged out his first Terribleco section this year, which turned out extremely well. His section gave us tricks to be envious of, and the dude’s got style.
Tez Aldersley – Tez got himself an interview in Summer Skate Mag this year, and also put out an extremely long section in Cannonball Holocaust.
There you go. Terribleco Awards 2012…. not sure I’ll make a habit of doing this.
