The epic “Vert Attack 5; Balls to the Wall” took place in Malmo, Sweden over the weekend. Whilst Malmo is no where near Coventry, a bunch of guys closely related to the Cov scene were over there full on killing it. In the “Masters” category, Sean Goff popped in 6th place, with Jim T Skin jumping into the 7th place slot. Pretty good going considering the dudes behind Todd Twist and Ride were up against Steve Caballero and Christian Hosoi, who nabbed 1st and 3rd respectively.
In the gigantic jumble of Pro’s and Am’s, Ride’s own Sam Beckett fought against the likes of Rune Glifberg (2nd) and Alex Perelson (3rd), clocking in at 6th place. Homegrown Cov ripper and son of Jim, Joe Atkins, grabbed 12th place. Joe is getting better and better every day, so I imagine next year he’ll be giving Beckett a run for his money! Zippy was also in action, but didn’t get near the top of leaderboard – the swedish clearly don’t realise how rad he is.
Major props to the guys who were representing UK skateboarding at this comp. This country has an awesome vert scene and it’s making leaps and bounds towards becoming possibly one of the best vert scenes in the world.
