So apparently it’s been decided by Stratford council that £60,000 will be enough to rebuild/extend what’s left of the recently demolished skatepark. Obviously this is a tiny amount of money considering the ramps that used to make up the majority of the park.
Local park users have also discovered an email address for the man who gave the thumbs up to demolish the park, without giving anyone prior warning or allowing them to prepare a project for replacing the wooden ramps. It’s been suggested that those who feel affected (and those who are just angered/annoyed at the situation) should express their thoughts in a constructive manner and send them to Mike Brain at mike.brain@stratford-dc.gov.uk. He’s a local politician who apparently relies on votes to keep his job – if the stratford skaters have their way he’s going to end up without a job in the next couple of years.
Any input from UKSA heads and skatepark manufacturers will most likely be greatly appreciated.
