I’ve decided that today, skateboarding is shit.
Mofugga, Joxa and myself went to the Holbrooks bowls expecting to have rad times and jolly japes. We arrived to find that a lake (quite literally) had appeared in the deep end. Determined to shred the gnar, we blocked off the opening to the deep end with our shirts and bags, and tried to get a skate in the shallow end. The coping was temperamental to say the least, choosing to co-operate with grinds and slides at sometimes and completely deciding to stick like glue at other times. This was only the beginning of the shitfest. Joxa tried to be clever and attempted to frontside carve around the deep end, trying to avoid the ultimate puddle. This did not work… at all. His board went right into the lagoon and got soaked.
After Joxa’s board dried out, the session was heating up again and fun was being had in some way. I was getting on the bonelesses, trying to get some boneless disasters down and then working my way up to trying boneless tailslaps. I did a boneless tailstall, and decided that it wasn’t quite fast or “slappy” enough, so went for a full on boneless tail and slipped right out. I then watched as my board shot over the hip and into the deep end, getting absolutely soaked. Upon retrieving my board, I tried to throw it out of the bowl only to throw it straight into the deepest part of the puddle, where it landed on the side that wasn’t completely wet. So now my board was completely wet, and I just wasn’t feeling the skate anymore.
“Sessions over”.
And therefore today, skateboarding is utterly, abysmally, horrendously shit.
